How to access, complete and track your courses

Overview

The Courses and Learning area is where you complete your assigned training, track your progress, access certificates, and manage refresher training requirements.

If you are wondering:

  • Which courses have been assigned to me?

  • How do I start a course?

  • What do the course statuses mean?

  • Why is my course showing as "In Progress"?

  • Where can I find my certificate?

  • What are refresher-required and refresher-overdue courses?

This article explains everything you need to know.

Accessing Your Courses

After logging in, if you are a subscriber, then you will be directly redirected to the My Courses page; if not, then you will be redirected to the dashboard, and from there you can go to the My Courses page.

From this page you can:

  • View all courses assigned to you.

  • Start new courses.

  • Continue courses already in progress.

  • Review completed courses.

  • Access certificates for completed courses.

  • Complete refresher training when required.

Courses are normally grouped into categories depending on your academy and training package.

Examples may include:

  • Food Safety Courses

  • Health & Safety Courses

  • Compliance Training

  • Additional Training Courses

The courses displayed on your dashboard are determined by your organisation, administrator, role, team, or training package.

Understanding the Course Summary

At the top of the course page you may see a training summary showing your overall progress.

Total Courses

Shows the total number of courses assigned to your account.

This includes:

  • Not Started courses

  • In-progress courses

  • Completed courses

  • Refresher courses

Courses Completed

Shows how many courses you have successfully completed.

A course is counted as completed only after:

  • All required lessons have been completed.

  • All required quizzes have been passed.

Courses In Progress

Shows courses that have been started but not yet completed.

Common reasons include:

  • Lessons still remaining.

  • Quiz not completed.

  • Quiz not passed.

  • Course exited before completion.

Refresher Required

Shows courses that are approaching their renewal date and require refresher training.

You should complete these courses before they become overdue.

Refresher Overdue

Shows courses that have passed their renewal deadline.

These courses require immediate attention to maintain compliance.

Understanding Course Statuses

Each course displays a status to help you understand your progress.

Not Started

You have been assigned the course but have not yet opened it.

In Progress

You have started the course but have not completed all required activities.

Completed

You have successfully completed the course requirements.

Once completed, your certificate becomes available (where applicable).

How a Course is Structured

Most courses follow a simple learning path.

Step 1: Course Overview

When you open a course, you will first see the course information page.

This page typically includes:

  • Course title

  • Course description

  • Learning objectives

  • Topics covered

  • Course status

The overview helps you understand what the course contains before beginning.

Step 2: Complete the Lesson

Courses usually contain one or more lessons.

Lessons may include:

  • Interactive learning content

  • Videos

  • Slides

  • Images

  • Audio narration

  • Knowledge checks

To begin learning, select the lesson and work through the content until you reach the end.

Step 3: Mark the Lesson as Complete

Once you have finished reviewing the lesson content, mark the lesson as complete if required.

This allows you to move to the next stage of the course.

If the lesson is not completed, the course may remain in progress.

Step 4: Complete the Quiz

Most courses include a quiz designed to assess understanding of the training material.

The quiz may contain:

  • Multiple-choice questions

  • Single-answer questions

  • Knowledge assessment questions

Answer all questions and submit the quiz when finished.

Step 5: Pass the Quiz

To complete the course successfully, you must achieve the required pass mark.

If you do not achieve a passing score, you may be required to retake the quiz.

Once passed, the course status will update to Completed.

Understanding Quiz Navigation

During a quiz, you may see:

  • Question numbers

  • Current question indicator

  • Answered questions

  • Review questions

  • Quiz summary

These features help you keep track of your progress before submitting your answers.

Before submitting, review all questions to ensure they have been answered correctly.

How Course Completion is Recorded

A course is normally considered complete when:

All required lessons are completed

All required quizzes are completed

Required pass marks have been achieved

Once these requirements are met, your completion record is automatically updated.

Accessing Your Certificate

For courses that include certification, a certificate becomes available after successful completion.

To access your certificate:

  1. Open the completed course.

  2. Locate the certificate section.

  3. Select Print Certificate or Download Certificate.

The certificate will contain:

  • Your name

  • Course title

  • Completion date

  • Certificate number (where applicable)

Important

The name shown on the certificate is taken from the first name and last name on your account.

If your name is incorrect, contact your administrator before requesting a replacement certificate.

Why Is My Course Still Showing as In Progress?

If a course has not moved to Completed status, check the following:

Lesson Not Completed

Make sure all lessons have been fully completed.

Quiz Not Submitted

Ensure the quiz has been submitted successfully.

Quiz Not Passed

Some courses require a minimum pass score before completion can be awarded.

Browser Session Interrupted

If your browser was closed before completion was recorded, reopen the course and verify all steps have been completed.

Progress Not Yet Updated

Occasionally there may be a short delay before progress updates are displayed.

Refresh the page and check again.

Refresher Training

Some courses require periodic renewal.

When a refresher becomes due:

  1. The course will appear as Refresher Required.

  2. Complete the refresher course before the deadline.

  3. Your training record will update automatically.

If the deadline passes, the course may appear as 'Refresher Overdue' until the refresher is completed.

Best Practices for Completing Courses

To ensure your training is recorded correctly:

  • Complete lessons in order.

  • Finish all required activities.

  • Submit quizzes completely.

  • Wait for confirmation after quiz submission.

  • Use a stable internet connection.

  • Check that the course status changes after completion.

Platform Variations

The course learning process is largely the same across all academies.

However, some academies may differ in:

  • Course categories available.

  • Course titles.

  • Certificate formats.

  • Refresher periods.

  • Dashboard layout.

  • Progress summary information.

For example, some platforms may not display the training summary counters (Completed, In Progress, Refresher Required, and Refresher Overdue) shown on the dashboard.

Regardless of the layout, the overall learning process remains the same:

Open Course → Complete Lesson(s) → Complete Quiz → Pass Quiz → Receive Completion Record and Certificate (where applicable).
